What is Dual FUE?
Dual FUE is an extraction technique developed by Elithair that purposefully combines two proven methods. At the sides of the donor area, the grafts are extracted manually. The rear and central section is treated with the micromotor.
Thanks to this combination, the tissue in the donor area is put under considerably less strain than with a purely micromotor-based extraction. The result is a gentler extraction with fewer visible extraction points after the procedure.
Why split it this way? The side areas of the donor region are anatomically more sensitive and aesthetically more prominent. This is where manual precision pays off. The rear central section is hidden from view and benefits from the efficiency of the micromotor, particularly when a high number of grafts is needed.

The two zones of Dual FUE extraction
Dual FUE divides the donor area into two strategic zones, each treated with the method that works best there.
- Sides, manual extraction. Using the manual punch, guided entirely by hand. Precise, gentle on the tissue, minimal trauma. Ideal for anatomically more sensitive areas and aesthetically visible zones.
- Rear and centre, micromotor. Using the proven electric micromotor. Efficient, well-established and fast when a high number of grafts is needed. Ideal for deeper, hidden donor areas.
Dual FUE vs Standard FUE
Both procedures extract individual follicles from the donor area. The left tick column shows Dual FUE at Elithair, the right one shows classic Standard FUE. The difference lies in the tool used per zone and therefore in the strain placed on the tissue.

When is Dual FUE recommended?
Dual FUE is not the right choice for every patient. In three clearly defined situations, it is the most sensible option from a medical point of view.
- A high number of grafts is needed. When 3,500 to 5,500+ grafts have to be extracted, Dual FUE protects the heavily stressed tissue at the sides of the donor area.
- A weak or already stressed donor area. Patients with a less dense donor region benefit particularly from the gentler extraction at the sides. Anyone planning a second hair transplant who already has a previously stressed donor area also preserves their remaining reserve to the greatest possible extent with Dual FUE.
- High demands on discretion in the donor area. Anyone who relies on an inconspicuous appearance for professional reasons, such as actors, models, influencers and other people whose work involves a great deal of contact with others, benefits from the almost invisible extraction points of Dual FUE after the procedure.

Manual extraction at the sides
With a manual punch, the specialist guides every incision precisely by hand. Without a mechanical drive, the tissue is treated especially gently. Here, experience and a steady hand count for more than speed.

Micromotor extraction in the central section
The rear central section is then treated with the proven micromotor. This zone is anatomically better suited to mechanical extraction and provides the efficiency needed for the total graft count.

Preparation and implantation
All extracted grafts are prepared under microscopes in the clinic’s own laboratory. This is followed by implantation into the recipient area, in almost all cases using the DHI Choi implanter pen.

Is Dual FUE painful?

With three clear indications: a high graft requirement (3,500+), a weak or already stressed donor area (including after an initial treatment), or high aesthetic demands on the discretion of the extraction points. In other cases, classic FUE or our NEO FUE is the better choice.
Does the donor area heal faster after Dual FUE?
Yes, usually considerably faster. Because the manual extraction at the sides causes less tissue trauma, the recovery of the donor zone is measurably faster. The redness subsides sooner, and the extraction points are barely visible after 7 to 10 days.
Is Dual FUE the same as FUE plus or FUEplus at other clinics?
No. Other clinics usually use the term FUEplus to mean purely manual FUE without a micromotor. Dual FUE at Elithair is a deliberate hybrid approach: manual at the sides plus micromotor in the centre. This combination delivers the advantages of both methods without their weaknesses.
