That depends on the area and how far the hair loss has progressed. As a guide: a receding hairline 2,000 to 3,500 grafts, crown and vertex 2,500 to 4,000, a full crown 4,000 to 5,500, a beard transplant 1,500 to 3,000. A graft holds 1 to 4 hairs, on average about 2.2, so 3,000 grafts means roughly 6,600 individual hairs are transplanted.
